A winner of the 2002 Irish Open Amateur and a representative of South Africa at the 2002 World Amateur Team Championships, Oosthuizen began competing as a professional on the Sunshine Tour in 2002-03, finishing four times among the top four in the Order of Merit from 2003-2007.  Blossomed in 2007 when he won thrice (and logged six top-3 finishes) in seven South African starts, and three times tied for 4th in European Tour events.  Began 2008 with a 3rd-place finish at the E Tour’s Dubai Desert Classic before running away for a record 14-shot victory while defending his Telkom PGA Championship in Johannesburg.  After ending 2006 ranked 337th in the world, climbed to 112th at the end of 2007, and to 67th after his Telkom repeat.  Has only once played in America (T50 at the 2007 WGC-CA Championship) where he is again scheduled to appear in three weeks.
